Young judokas will send our Olympians to Tokyo 2020

Young judokas will send our Olympians for the Tokyo 2020 Games. The ceremony will take place during the Panagyurishte Open tournament on Saturday, June 19, at 1 pm in Arena Assarel.

Within days, the International Federation will officially announce the participants in the largest sports forum on the planet, but with certain quotas for Tokyo are three of our judokas - Ivelina Ilieva (57), Yanislav Gerchev (60) and Ivaylo Ivanov (81).

There will be a serious foreign presence at the Panagyurishte Open tournament. Already 9 countries have applied to participate - Moldova, Ukraine, Serbia, Slovenia, Montenegro, Greece, Germany, Romania and Bosnia and Herzegovina. There will be representatives from all leading clubs in the country. Nearly 800 competitors are expected to appear on the tatami.

The competition is in two days (June 19-20) and is for young talents from 5 to 17 years. The start of the fights is at 10 o'clock. After the tournament, some of the competitors will stay in an international three-day camp.

Panagyurishte Open is organized for the fifth time in a row by one of the biggest clubs in Bulgaria "Topalov", whose founder and head coach is Kostadin Topalov, multiple champion of Bulgaria in judo and second in the world of sambo.
